Canal Winchester Schools has selected a new assistant principal for Indian Trail Elementary School.
The Canal Winchester Board of Education unanimously approved at its March 20 board meeting hiring Mr. Brett Stewart as the Assistant Principal for the kindergarten through 2nd grade building for the 2023-2024 school year.
Mr. Stewart is currently the assistant principal at Urbana Elementary School, where he supports two building principals by handling building-wide behavior, evaluating staff, and implementing aspects of the safety plan.
Before becoming an assistant principal, Mr. Stewart taught for nine years, first at a private school near Springfield, Ohio, and then at Reynoldsburg City Schools.
“Mr. Stewart’s enthusiasm for teaching and learning and familiarity with curriculum resources and intervention models used in our district made him a great candidate for this position,” said Mrs. Cyndi Toledo, Director of Human Resources. “We are excited to welcome him to our leadership team this summer.”
Mr. Stewart will join Mrs. Lea Cobb on this Indian Trail Administrative Team. Currently the Indian Trail Assistant Principal, Mrs. Cobb will become the new Indian Trail Principal this summer.
“Mrs. Cobb and Mr. Stewart share a commitment to offering outstanding educational experiences to our youngest students and will provide strong leadership as Indian Trail prepares to offer all-day kindergarten for all students beginning in the fall of 2024,” said Superintendent Kiya Hunt. “There are exciting things ahead for Indian Trail Elementary, and this leadership team is well prepared to guide the school through the opportunities before them.”
Mr. Stewart will begin his new position on August 1, 2023.
