CWHS Hosts Paint Your Portrait Day for Students

Canal Winchester High School students work on clay bowls for the Canal Winchester Human Services' Souper Supper event during the school's Paint Your Portrait Day.

Canal Winchester High School students spent Monday, November 7, engaged in activities tied to the Canal Winchester Portrait of a Graduate, a set of six competencies that prepare students for success, for the school's first Paint Your Portrait Day of the school year.
The six competencies in our Portrait of a Graduate are Respectful Citizens, Collaborators, Responsible Learners, Communicators, Self-Aware Individuals, and Problem-Solvers. Activities available for students to select for Monday's Paint Your Portrait Day included community service, exploring interests and passions, academic enrichment and support, and opportunities to explore the 3Es: Employment, Education, and Enlistment.
Just a few of the activities on Monday's menu of options included:
  • Creating clay bowls for Canal Winchester Human Services' Souper Supper event
  • Rock Band Experience
  • Fall Hike, Wellness Walk, and Agility Training
  • Meditation and Yoga
  • Discussions about leadership, safety, and equity
  • Raking leaves for Senior Citizens
  • Visits to Yellowwood Farm, The City of Canal Winchester, Ohio State University, the Fairfield County Humane Society, the library, and David's Way
  • Mock Interviews with Chik-fil-A
