An educator with proven results helping students find their path to success will join the administrative team at Canal Winchester High School this fall, pending board approval next month.
The Canal Winchester Board of Education will vote on June 12 on a recommendation to hire Mr. Rob Paulauskas, currently Director at Focus Learning Academy Southeast, as an Assistant Principal at Canal Winchester High School.
“Mr. Paulauskas has a passion for supporting all learners and a natural rapport with students, families, and staff that set him apart during the selection process,” said Superintendent Mrs. Kiya Hunt. “Students and staff on the interview committee noted that his genuine personality and willingness to have tough conversations would make him a valuable addition to the CWHS team.”
Mr. Paulauskas started his career in education as a Social Studies Teacher in 2011 before becoming a Dean of Students in 2014. Later that year, he became the Director of FLA Southeast, a position he held for nine years that is responsible for overseeing all building planning, academic protocols, and day-to-day operations.
“During the time we spent with him, Mr. Paulauskas demonstrated that he shares our district’s value of strong school-community partnerships and developing relationships and opportunities to benefit our students,” said Mrs. Amy Warren, Canal Winchester High School Principal. “We are excited to welcome such a dedicated, student-focused educator to our district and to see the impact he will have with students, families, and staff.”
During his tenure as Director, Mr. Paulauskas led the school to an average 13 percent increase in the graduation rate per year and a 94 percent staff retention rate over nine years.
“As an educator who prioritizes relationships and connections with all stakeholders, I’m excited to join a district with supportive community members and families partnering with the students and staff in the important work of educating children and preparing them for success,” said Mr. Paulauskas. “I look forward to collaborating with all members of the school community to create opportunities for students, ensure success for each and every student, and make Canal Winchester Schools the best they can be.”
Students, teachers, and building and district leaders were included in the interview process.
Mr. Paulauskus holds a bachelor's degree in history with a minor in Computer Systems from Mount Union College, and a bachelor's degree in integrated social studies education from Youngstown State University. He earned his master’s degree in educational administration from The Ohio State University. He will fill the role of Mr. Greg Lahr, who has accepted the position of Principal at Circleville High School for the 2023-2024 school year.
