Canal Winchester Schools Selects Lea Cobb as Next Indian Trail Principal

Canal Winchester Schools has selected Lea Cobb as the next principal of Indian Trail Elementary.
The Canal Winchester Board of Education approved Ms. Cobb's hiring at its February 13 board meeting. Ms. Cobb is currently the assistant principal at Indian Trail, a role she has held since 2016. She was selected through an interview process that included district and building staff.
"Lea’s knowledge of the district and Indian Trail and her strong relationships with staff, students, and families will provide a seamless transition for Indian Trail Elementary as she moves into her new role this summer,” said Superintendent Ms. Kiya Hunt. “Over the last seven years, Lea has demonstrated strong leadership, high expectations, and dedicated commitment to Canal Winchester students that will be an asset to our students, staff, and the entire community.”
Ms. Cobb will take the position vacated by Mr. Eric Riddle, who has resigned at the end of the 2022-2023 school year to pursue other opportunities.
“I am honored to be selected as the principal of Indian Trail Elementary. I look forward to continuing to work with our teachers, staff, students, and families to provide outstanding educational opportunities for our youngest students,” said Ms. Cobb. “Our team will continue to work hard to make Indian Trail the best it can be for Canal Winchester students, and we are excited for the opportunities ahead as we expand our building over the next year and prepare for all-day kindergarten in the fall of 2024.”
Ms. Cobb has worked in education for 19 years, beginning as a first-grade teacher at Whitehall City Schools in 2004. In 2008, she became a Student Intervention Coordinator at Whitehall, before joining Canal Winchester Schools in 2016 as Assistant Principal at Indian Trail Elementary. She holds a bachelor's degree from Ohio State University in Human Development and Family Science, completed an elementary teacher licensure program at Otterbein University, and earned a master's degree in Educational Administration from Ashland University.
