An experienced athletic administrator has been selected as the next Athletic Director of Canal Winchester Schools.

The Canal Winchester Board of Education will vote on May 15 on a recommendation to hire Mr. Jacob Ramsey, currently Assistant Director of Student Life at Upper Arlington High School, as the district’s Athletic Director.

“Mr. Ramsey’s experience with cultivating student-centered athletic programs and enthusiasm for supporting student-athletes in their academic and athletic journeys made him the top choice for this role,” said Superintendent Mrs. Kiya Hunt. “His vision for the future of Canal Winchester Athletics aligns with our district mission of Empowering All Students for Success and we are excited about the future of our programs under his direction.”

Mr. Ramsey joined Upper Arlington High School as the Assistant Director of Student Life in 2021. Prior to that, he was the Athletic Director of Independence and Marion-Franklin high schools for six years. He began his career in education in 2011 and has served as a fitness instructor, coach, and teacher's assistant.

Students, coaches, community members, and staff were included on the interview committee to select the new athletic director.

Mr. Ramsey holds a bachelor's degree in communications from the University of Cincinnati, where he was also a student-athlete. He will fill the role of retiring Athletic Director Mr. Pat Durbin, beginning his new role on August 1, pending board approval.
