CWHS Students Make "Plarn" Tote Bags for Human Services

Canal Winchester High School students in Family Consumer Sciences and FCCLA members have transformed plastic grocery bags into useful totes to give back to the community!

Canal Winchester High School students in Family Consumer Sciences and FCCLA members have transformed plastic grocery bags into useful totes to give back to the community!
This year, these students have been working with Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher Ms. Amy Kruse on a tote bag plarn project, turning plastic bags into 'plarn' (plastic yarn) which is used to create these tote bags. The tote bags are donated to CW Human Services and they add toiletries to the bags. Then the bags are distributed to people without houses within Franklin and Fairfield counties.
Not only does this keep plastic out of the landfill, but it also serves a useful purpose for local citizens. This year, 35 tote bags were made to donate.
Do you have extra plastic bags around the house? Contact Ms. Kruse at CWHS to donate for future plarn tote bags!
