Destiny is the new library management system recently put into place, which means you can now access the Canal Winchester School Libraries Online Catalog from home! Simply click on Students at the top of the page then Media Centers.
Now parents, students, community members, teachers, etc., can access each library's collection. Grades K-5 visiting Destiny will be considered guests and they can simply look at our catalog and perform searches. Grades 6-12th, students can log on to the system (using their school computer accounts). By logging in, students and staff can place items on hold (from either their home building or any building in district), look to see what they have checked out, when their items are due, read ebooks, write a book review, see the most checked out items or newest books in the library.
Students can also create lists for the books they have read and can come in very handy for students doing class projects. They save titles to their lists and can then find the book again if need be, create a works cited list (through Destiny) of the materials they used.
Having the library at their fingertips, no matter where they are, enables our students to access and use information at their convenience and when they most need it. Students can search for items in a variety of ways so that it takes in to account all learning styles. Destiny allows for visual searches, which are ideal for our ELL students and those at the lower grade levels. In addition, students can search using English, French or Spanish.
