Handle with Care
At Canal Winchester Local Schools, we know that sometimes our students carry heavy hearts or tough mornings with them into the school day. That’s why we have Handle with Care, an initiative designed to give students a little extra support when they need it most. Without changing their daily routine, this program quietly alerts the right staff so we can meet your child with patience, understanding, and care throughout the school day. We also respect your family’s privacy - you never need to share details you don’t want to.
If your student is coming back to school after a difficult weekend, evening, or morning, you can use the forms on the right to let us know they might need some extra encouragement and kindness that day. Just include their first and last name and grade level, and we’ll make sure their school team is ready to support them.
Families have used the Handle with Care form for many reasons, such as the loss of a loved one or pet, a hard morning before school, or stressful news like moving to a new home. Please note, this is not a crisis line, and forms are only checked on school days. If you need immediate help during evenings, weekends, or breaks, you can always call the national mental health and crisis hotline by dialing 988.
