Canal Winchester Schools is enhancing student opportunities with a new performing arts center, expanded athletic facilities, and improved campus access through a $29 million facilities project at Canal Winchester High School.

A facilities project at Canal Winchester Schools brings a new performing arts center and athletic field house to the high school campus, along with renovations to existing athletic facilities.
This $29 million initiative is Phase 1 of a long-term Master Facilities Plan, created in fall 2024 through community feedback from students, families, staff, and residents.
The project includes:

  • Build a new 700+ seat Performing Arts Center at Canal Winchester High School, including a blackbox classroom, storage, flyspace, and an orchestra pit.
  • Building a new Field House at Mike Locke Stadium featuring indoor turf, locker room, offices, training facilities, and a meeting room with access to a viewing patio overlooking Weiser Field.
  • Renovating the current field house, including the locker rooms
  • Build a softball and baseball complex with a turf baseball field, two turf softball fields, new dugouts, batting cages, and a press box with restrooms.
  • Adding additional bleachers at Mike Locke Stadium
  • Adding more parking to the high school site
  • Opening up traffic flow at Canal Winchester High School

The project is currently in the Design Development stage, with construction scheduled in phases through the 2027-2028 school year. The performing arts center is expected to be completed in the fall of 2027. The district is partnering with Schorr Architects and Summit Construction on the project.
The project was made possible through careful, proactive financial planning, without asking taxpayers to approve a bond issue.
