CW Stars Employee Recognition Program

Every day, Canal Winchester Schools employees make a difference for our students, families, coworkers, and community. The CW Stars Employee Recognition Program celebrates employees who stand out through their leadership, growth, teamwork, commitment to students, and innovation.

Anyone can help us recognize a CW Star! Nominations are welcome from students, families, staff, and community members throughout the school year.

Gold Star: Leading the Way

Leadership and Expertise

A leader in their role or area of expertise who sets a high standard, shares their knowledge, leads by example, and makes others around them better. Leadership does not require a formal title.

Silver Star: Always Growing

Growth Mindset

A lifelong learner who welcomes feedback, takes on challenges, seeks opportunities to improve, and continually grows in their work.

Black Star: Better Together

Teamwork and Relationships

A trusted teammate who builds strong relationships, collaborates with others, steps in when needed, and helps the entire team succeed.

Student-Focused and Big Heart

Someone who consistently puts students at the center, builds meaningful connections, and goes above and beyond to help students feel supported, valued, and successful.

When you nominate a CW Schools employee, you can select up to three Stars that best describe the ways they shine and share an example of what makes them stand out.

Nominations remain active for the entire school year, so there is no need to nominate the same person for the same Star more than once. Each month from October through May, two employees are selected for recognition. Employees may be recognized for more than one Star at the same time when their nomination demonstrates excellence in multiple areas.

A District Office committee reviews nominations and selects our CW Stars. Winners are celebrated and recognized for the difference they make throughout Canal Winchester Schools.

All part-time and full-time Canal Winchester Schools employees are eligible to be nominated. Employees from every role and every building can be CW Stars. Leadership isn't limited to administrators, innovation isn't limited to the classroom, and making a difference can look different in every role.

Not sure which Star fits? Choose the Star (or up to three Stars!) that seems closest and tell us the story. The selection committee will determine the Star or Stars that best represent the employee's impact.
