• Back-to-School forms must be completed by Friday, July 31, to be placed on a bus route when routes are released on MyPowerHub (PowerSchool) on Thursday, August 6. You can complete the form by logging into PowerSchool, and selecting "Forms."

• Breakfast and lunch for all students will be free during the 2026-2027 school year through the Community Eligibility Provision of the National School Lunch and Breakfast programs. 
• Review supply lists and purchase any supplies needed for the new school year. (See the Supply Lists section below!)

• Attend Back-to-School events. (See the Important Dates section below!) 
• Check MyPowerHub (PowerSchool)for bus routes, schedules, and classroom teachers after 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 6.

• August 13, 2026: First day of school for Kindergarten students, last names A-L, and all students in 1st through 6th grades and 9th grade
• August 14, 2026: First day of school for Kindergarten students, last names M-Z, and students in grades 7-8 and 10-12 (All 1st through 12th grade students attend)
• August 17, 2026: All K-12 students attend
• August 19, 2026: First day of school for Preschool students (All K-12th grade students attend)

Log on to MyPowerHub (PowerSchool) to complete your back-to-school forms and update transportation information by the end of the day on July 31, 2026, to ensure your child’s transportation is ready for the 2026-2027 school year.

Canal Winchester High School (9th through 12th grades): Individual teachers provide supply lists for their classes at the beginning of the school year. Students should bring basic supplies such as paper and pencils for the first day of school. Please see the general supply list for a list of supplies that most students will use during the school year.

General Supply List

This year, all Canal Winchester Schools students will receive free breakfast and lunch every school day. The district has been approved to participate in the Community Eligibility Provision of the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs, which makes this possible.

Meal prices for the 2026-2027 school year are:

• Grades K-12 Breakfast: Free
• Grades K-12 Lunch: Free
• Grades K-12 Milk only: $0.50
• Grades 6-12: Á la carte items available. Items priced individually

School arrival and dismissal times for the 2026-2027 school year are:

• Middle School 7:15 a.m. to 1:35 p.m. (Doors open at 7:00 a.m. for students)
• High School 7:55 a.m. to 2:20 p.m. (Doors open at 7:45 a.m. for students)
• Winchester Trail Elementary 8:50 a.m. to 3:10 p.m. (Doors open at 8:40 a.m. for students)
• Indian Trail Elementary 9:35 a.m. to 3:55 p.m. (Doors open at 9:25 a.m. for students)
• AM Preschool: 9:35 a.m. to 12:10 p.m.
• PM Preschool: 1:20 p.m. to 3:55 p.m.

Canal Winchester Schools will partner with Healthy Kids to offer before and after-school care for students in kindergarten through 5th grade. The program will be housed at Winchester Trail Elementary.

Schedules and classroom teacher assignments will be available in MyPowerHub (PowerSchool) by 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 6.

Canal Winchester Schools offers all-day kindergarten for all students. Students will attend each day from 9:35 a.m. to 3:55 p.m. Kindergarten students will begin on a staggered start, with a small group of students attending each of the first three days of school. All students will attend together beginning on Monday, August 17. The staggered start allows our teachers to help students get to know their new classroom and school in a smaller group for a smoother transition into school. The staggered start schedule is:

• August 13: Kindergarten students with last names beginning with A-L attend
• August 14: Kindergarten students with last names beginning with M-Z attend
• August 17: All Kindergarten students attend

The first day of Preschool will be Wednesday, August 19. Students attend a half-day program Monday through Thursday. A letter will be sent to Preschool families notifying them of their child’s placement in AM or PM Preschool. If you do not receive this information by August 7, please contact Special Education/Preschool Coordinator Mitzi Boyd at mboyd@cwls.us. or (614) 833-2154.

Preschool will be at Indian Trail Elementary, and preschool times for the 2026-2027 school year are:

• AM Preschool: 9:35 a.m. to 12:10 p.m.
• PM Preschool: 1:20 p.m. to 3:55 p.m.

Canal Winchester Schools is a one-to-one district, providing access to a Chromebook to each student in grades K-12 to support their learning in school and at home.

The Chromebook will be issued at no cost to the student; however, you have the option to pay a protection fee. Please make sure you fully read our Chromebook Agreement form, found in back-to-school forms on PowerSchool, for important guidelines, procedures and optional protection plan fee information associated with the Chromebook.

Students in grades 6-12 bring their Chromebooks to school fully charged each day, and if they need repairs, they should take their devices to their school’s Chrome Depot for assessment. Indian Trail and Winchester Trail Elementary students use their Chromebooks only during the school day and do not take them home.

There will be no standard student supply fees for the 2026-2027 school year. Some students may have fees for parking at CWHS, AP testing, an optional Chromebook protection plan, and pay to participate. School fees are paid in the payschoolscentral.com portal.
Pay to participate fees are $100 for middle school students and $150 for high school students.

Ohio law requires all K–12 students to keep their cell phones and personal electronic devices off and out of sight during the school day. This includes smartwatches, earbuds, and similar devices. Students may only use them if specifically allowed by a teacher for learning purposes.

If your student uses a personal device as part of an IEP or 504 plan or to manage a health concern, please contact the building your child attends to make arrangements.
