Winter Weather Plans 2024-2025

Winter Weather Plans 2024-2025
Megan Anthony

With winter weather on the way, we want to ensure everyone knows what to expect if we have weather-related school closures or delays.

TWO-HOUR DELAYS

With all-day kindergarten now in place, we can implement two-hour delays when extra time is needed to ensure safe travel to school. On delay days, preschool classes will be canceled. All other buildings will open two hours later than usual but still dismiss at their regular times:

Two-Hour Delay Schedule

  • Indian Trail Elementary: 11:35 a.m. - 3:55 p.m.
  • Winchester Trail Elementary: 10:50 a.m. - 3:10 p.m.
  • Canal Winchester Middle School: 9:15 a.m. - 1:35 p.m.
  • Canal Winchester High School: 9:55 a.m. - 2:20 p.m.

SCHOOL CANCELLATIONS

If school is canceled due to inclement weather, it will be a traditional snow day with no remote learning. If we experience excessive snow days, we may need to shift to remote learning to meet state-required hours. We’ll notify families in advance if this becomes necessary.

INCLEMENT WEATHER DECISIONS

Our goal is to decide on closures or delays by 5:30 a.m. whenever possible. Decisions are based on several factors, including road conditions assessed by staff driving throughout the district and forecasts for the day ahead.

NOTIFICATIONS FOR DELAYS OR CANCELLATIONS

We’ll notify families of delays or closures through ParentSquare via email, phone, and text. Updates will also be posted on our website, social media channels, and the following TV stations:

WTTE Channel 28, WBNS Channel 10, WSYX Channel 6, and WCMH Channel 4.

If a childcare provider or family member needs to receive notifications, they can sign up here.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we navigate winter weather together!
