Canal Winchester Schools Hires Experienced Technology Leader

The Canal Winchester Board of Education is set to vote on the recommendation to hire Dr. K. Sam Akulli as Director of Technology at its regular meeting on Monday, September 9, at 7 p.m. at the Canal Winchester Schools Education Center.

Dr. Akulli brings 14 years of IT and management experience in both the private and public sectors. Most recently, he served as the Senior Director of Information Technology at a large law firm. He is also a Strategic AI Program Advisor at Ashland University and an Adjunct Professor and Doctoral Advisor at Franklin University. His prior roles include Senior IT Project Manager in the healthcare and housing industry, IT Project Manager for the City of Columbus, and IT Infrastructure Specialist for the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission. In 2018, Dr. Akulli founded the consulting firm Akulli & Associates, where he served as Executive Director until 2023.

Dr. Akulli’s proven track record in project management will be instrumental in advancing our technology initiatives, ensuring that our students and staff have the resources they need to succeed in an increasingly digital world.”

Dr. Akulli holds a Master’s in Education Policy and Leadership and a Ph.D. in Education Studies from The Ohio State University. He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) through the Project Management Institute and holds a certificate in Strategic Artificial Intelligence from Ashland University. He is also pursuing a Certified Information Systems Security Professional designation.
