August marked another month of steady progress for Canal Winchester's facility improvements. The campus has transformed into a visibly active construction site, with major work now underway across several areas of the project.
At the ball fields, the canvas for the new fields is becoming more prominent each day. Earthwork grading (the process of reshaping the ground surface to support the planned elevation) is now complete. The detention pond is also complete, and sanitary and storm utilities are currently being installed.
Coming up next at the Ball Fields:
- Parking lot pad
- Foundations
- Drainage for the JV softball field
- Water and electrical service
The Performing Arts Center continues to advance. The building pad, domestic and fire/water line installations/relocations, and existing building window infill have been completed, and several key activities are nearing the finish line, including the foundations, foundation block, and in-wall electrical.
Coming up next at the Performing Arts Center:
- Underground electric and plumbing work
- Cut the building pad slope (excavating and shaping the ground around the building pad to create the planned slopes and elevations)
The future fieldhouse is making progress as well. The PEMB (pre-engineered metal building) has been delivered, asphalt and sidewalks have been demolished, and the building pad is complete. Crews are currently installing sanitary and storm utilities.
